For the first time in a while, there are no new teams in the top 25! While there were some teams near the bottom of the top 25 that lost (most prominently, Louisville’s shocking collapse against Duke), none lost badly enough to fall outside of America’s 25 best teams. Instead, the story of the week is one of the country’s very best teams making waves – Michigan State, rocketing up five spots to #5 this week. Two big wins for Sparty this week, at Wisconsin, and a dominating home performance yesterday against Ohio State. That win came with a caveat, as Nick Ward suffered a broken left hand in the game, but for now Michigan State looks like they could be back.
Notable unranked teams include #32 TCU, #34 Syracuse, #42 Arizona State, #43 Ohio State, #46 Seton Hall, #74 Arkansas, #79 Indiana, #91 Saint Louis, #92 Arizona, #115 Missouri, #117 Illinois, #118 USC, #162 Illinois State and #326 SIUE. #353 Maryland-Eastern Shore is the lowest-ranked team in Division I again this week, now sitting 2-11 in what I have rated as the country’s worst conference.
